About Us
Rokos is a small family business created by a calling of compassion and caring for animals that started in Rio Grande Valley.
Our Story
I had a passion for pet care at a very young age. I have memories of bringing homeless animals into my house to clean and care for them. My mother used to get upset, but it didn’t stop me from pursuing my dream of caring for animals, now she fully supports me and my career.
In 2001 I moved to Houston, Texas and started pursuing my professional career as a dog groomer. I was blessed to be mentored by some of the best AKC breeders of Afghan Hounds, Bichon Frises, Toy Poodles, Affenpinschers, and American Cocker Spaniels in the area. They helped polish my skills, guided, and encouraged me to continue my education in the field. It has not been an easy path as a young mother, but I was able to overcome many of the difficulties.
Thankfully now, I am a certified esthetician with advanced skin and coat care specialty, AKC certified groomer for Bichon haircuts and West Highland Terriers, with speciality in styling seniors and special needs pets, brachycephalic breeds, and hair dyeing. Currently, I am focused on guiding and mentoring the future compassionate groomers and professional pet stylists so they can service by the highest level of quality and safety standards in the industry.
Why compassion matters to us?
Pets deserve to be treated with compassion and respect. They have feelings as do we, they can sense when they are loved and when they are rejected, they can have fears, and their self esteem can be hurt when they are not shown the tenderness that they deserve. Not showing compassion can scar the mind of a pet or lead to injuries, pain, trauma, or worse. It is important to treat pets with compassion because it makes the entire grooming and boarding experience pleasant and positive, ensuring them that they are loved and cared for makes them happy.
